Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) works by cauterizing a small gap in the nerves that communicate pain.

RFA can drastically reduce cervical, lumbar, and thoracic pain symptoms.

Along with X-Ray guidance, patients are kept awake during an RFA procedure to provide feedback that allows doctors to get the best results possible. Some of the benefits of RFA include:

  • A reduction in neck or back pain. This relief is typically long-lasting, with some patients reporting benefits for more than six months.
  • Fewer pain medications. RFA treatments can help patients and doctors work together to reduce the amount of pain medications needed to reduce pain symptoms.
  • Improved physical therapy. Since RFA treatment often drastically reduces pain, many patients can experience a greater range of motion. This helps accomplish physical therapy goals and treat underlying causes.
Radiofrequency Ablation

As is the case with almost all procedures, there is slight risk associated. For more information on how RFA injections work at Blue Ridge Pain Management please call us at 828-350-9310.

Epidurals

Epidurals are nerve block injections that directly target the body’s pain receptors that carry pain signals to the brain.  By only blocking the nerves that carry pain signals to the brain, you will still have feeling and movement in the areas of the body that you received the injection.  An epidural steroid injection often does…

Neuromodulation

By using electrical currents to alter(modulate) nerve activity in the spinal column and disrupt pain signal, we can drastically reduce cervical, lumbar, and thoracic pain symptoms, including radiating pain to the extremities. Some of the benefits of neuromodulation include: A precisely targeted non-surgical reduction in pain. Fewer pain medications. Successful neuromodulation can greatly reduce, or…
