Using X-Ray guidance, medicine to numb the area and reduce inflammation are injected directly into the joints that cause your pain. The procedure only takes a few minutes and the benefits are numerous.
Sedation is not typically needed, but oral medications can be provided in some cases.
At Blue Ridge Pain Management, facet injections into the cervical, lumbar, or thoracic regions begin by thoroughly numbing the injection site. Then with the help of X-Ray guidance, one of our interventional pain management physicians places a dosing needle and injects a contrast dye that confirms that the medication will be properly administered into the facet joint. After the therapeutic medication has been delivered, the dosing needle is removed, and the injection site is cleaned and covered.
