COVID-19 Update

A letter from Dr. Buzzanell about how we plan to keep you safe during this time.

Call 828-350-9310

Dr. Buzzanell and the staff at Blue Ridge Pain Management are doing everything to ensure the safety of our patients during this time.

Thank you for the confidence you have placed in our practice. It is a privilege to be your trusted healthcare partner.

As the impact from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on communities increases, we feel it is vital to communicate our plan to keep our patients and team members healthy and safe.

Our Locations

  • While our facilities and equipment are cleaned frequently throughout the day, we are increasing the frequency and detail of sanitizing equipment, exam tables, furniture, and doors.
  • We are increasing the cleaning of surfaces and items (computers, countertops, writing tools, clipboards, etc.) that are touched frequently.

Telemedicine for all follow-up appointments

  • To help ensure that we provide the best care for our patients as well as protect you and our staff, we are providing virtual telemedicine appointments for all of our follow up appointments.

How does this work:

  • During this time period, you will no longer need to come into the office since you will be able to connect with one of our providers virtually.
  • Prior to your appointment time, you will receive either a text message or an email with a link, you will click the link and then follow all of the instructions on the next few screens.
  • Once you have checked in, one of our providers will be with you.

Things to remember for your Telemedicine appointment:

  • Have all of your medications that we prescribe handy since we will do a pill count during your visit.
  • If you have a copay, please have your payment method handy since we will take your copay virtutally prior to your appointment.

Our Patients

  • Please wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water before and after your appointment.
  • If you are unable to wash your hands beforehand, please use the provided alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Please, no handshaking.
  • If you, or anyone accompanying you to your appointment, has had a recent onset of fever, cough, and shortness of breath or respiratory illness, or are caring for anyone who is experiencing these symptoms, or you have visited an identified a CDC high risk area in the last 14 days prior to your appointment, please reschedule your appointment by calling our office.
  • If you are experiencing any of these symptoms or have been to a CDC high risk area within the last 14 days, but still feel that you need to be seen, please call our office. Our medical staff will determine whether you will need to reschedule.
  • As much as possible, please limit the number of friends/family members accompanying you for your appointment.
  • If you are in the clinic and you need to cough or sneeze, please cough into a tissue and throw it immediately into the trash.

Our Team Members

  • We are expanding our employee training and we will follow CDC guidelines to ensure that we are maximizing prevention and preparedness.
  • We will continue our current hand-washing policy.
  • We are implementing a no-handshaking policy with patients and team members.
  • Our team members will stay home if they are sick.

Based on current information from the World Health Organization (www.who.int), the Centers for Disease Control (www.cdc.gov ), and our own preparedness efforts, we are confident we can provide a safe environment for you and our team members.

Thank you,

Dr. Buzzanell and the Blue Ridge Pain Management Staff

Office Policy

Should I come in for my appointment?

We want to continue to give the best care possible to all of our patients and that means that our office will remain open during this time.

We do want to ensure that every person is safe and healthy so we do ask that you stay home if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cough

Also, if you have been around anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please do not come in and instead call our offices at: 828-350-9310.

How do the drive up appointments work?

It’s just as simple as it sounds!  There will be a blue tent out in our parking lot and you will pull up into one of the spots.  A medical assistant will be out to shortly to greet you and then you will have your normal appointment with one of our providers.
